Writing back against the darkness.

I have loved books since I was old enough to sneak down from my bunk bed at night and manage to snatch a book to read under the covers by flashlight. After tearing through countless notebooks and testing hundred of pens in the search for that perfect one I began work on my debut novel and I’m loving every second.

(Except for the editing, that did make me weep a little.)A normal day for me consists of traveling the land with my family of Truth Tellers, fighting back the darkness. I am accompanied by a plastic waving cat who keeps me company as I furiously scribble stories into my notebook.
The world can be a dark place, and even in children’s fiction I noticed a need for clean stories that were still adventurous.Books that do not pretend that the shadows don’t exist, but also don’t give in to the darkness. My desire is to craft stories that teach children how to stand up to the darkness; to write something that made them feel like they are not alone in their experiences.

Stories that would encourage them to stand up for what is true...

What kinds of themes are in your stories?
There’s no end to the ranges of themes to write about but if I had to sum in up in one word it would be--Truth. In addition to writing enjoyable adventures for children, my desire is that my writing would reflect the truth and goodness of the greatest Author this world has ever known.
Currently I’m working on a middle grade adventure trilogy, with missional themes that follows a young boy as he learns to survive in a hostile environment filled with secrets, barbarous civilizations and traitors--all the while realizing that the King desires for all to know Him regardless of their pedigree or lack thereof. As I'm nearing the end of the first book and preparing it for it's intended audience I am overwhelmed with excitement about sharing it.If that sounds like something you are interested in I invite you to join me in the adventure as I continue working on it by joining my newsletter. There you will find friendly notes of encouragement, reflections of Truth, and an insider peek into my writing world.
I’ve also put together a printable for a Psalms devotional study that our family has enjoyed doing together that I would be thrilled to share with you.

But What is the Story?
When you step into my protagonist’s world you might
recognize some of the stories he tells
that’s because all of those stories are part of our world too
and they all come together into THE STORY...
The Gospel Story

A world fallen from grace...
God created this world for good, but man believed Satan’s lies in the garden. They reached for something God never intended them to have, and brought sin into the world.
Sought by a Saviour...
Knowing that man could not redeem himself, God stooped down from heaven and sent his son, Jesus, to die for us, paying the sin debt in our place.
Living in Victory!
Rising the third day, Jesus fulfilled all the requirements for our soul's salvation, granting all who believe in him citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven, and access to the Victorious Christian life.
